"Why hasn't anybody told a story about mitochondrial Eve yet? or the truth about Neanderthals? or packs and men? The author's fast paced multi-protagonist plot is a refreshing and rare treat. Read this masterpiece and be amazed."
John Stryker Meyer, editor North County Times, & author of ACROSS THE FENCE: The Secret War In Vietnam & ON THE GROUND: The Secret War in Vietnam.
"I was expecting just science fiction, but in the main the book serves up provocative and enlightening science. If you also enjoy adventure and love stories, this superb book is for you. Bravo."
Dr Lee Dubeck, Professor of Physics and science fiction aficionado, Temple University
"I loved this story. If the world had stayed matriarchal, we would never have had any wars. A black Eve, what a kick!"
Sami Robinson, author of BROKEN TOY.
The not as good looking gray haired fellow, Bob Richard collaborated with Plays with Wolves to produce this story.
Brother Wolf's book cover shot represents a point in our pre-history when the first outward signs of dog intrigued and mystified the Neanderthals and Africans.
NOVEL IN A NUTSHELL
The legendary mitochondrial mother of mankind, Eve, leads her tribes (Homo sapiens) north out of Africa to prove the legend of the lost tribes and discover their roots. Wolves and Neanderthals await them in a place like Eden surrounded by bountiful game. A looming ice age winter is about to beset them. Only their hearts are ready, ready for anything. The Neanderthals teach them how to enjoy life and survive in a world dominated by wolves.
A time-challenged paleoanthropologist Arny is also trying to discover his roots, find his grandfather, an infamous Nazi archeologist. On his journey, he stumbles and falls for Eve, the most powerful and alluring woman Earth Mother has ever created. The fiesty Eve is a challenge for any man, but will she be tempted to leave the tribes she loves and protects?
Would you like to travel back in time to run with wolves? Pristine, rich atmosphere and water. Would you like to know the truth about the Neanderthals, how wolves and men got along or didn't, places like Eden, how they lived, how they loved?
This is not only a story of two individuals or the world's first (free) wolf dog. In a world of ultimate freedom to walk or lope the earth wherever and whenever you please, you will still find yourself bound by love. This story is about the lives of people and wolves, together and apart and how understanding their ancestry changes all.
Enjoy the wrestling, romances, songs, dances, ceremonies, storytelling, hunts, and art. Gather your firewood, slack your mammoth hide, finish off the last of the gazelle jerky and redbush mountain tea, your journey will forever change you . . . in a time that is nevermore?

We are dedicated to promoting understanding for the heritage and destiny of wolves and men and to the brotherhood of all men. Imagine yourself running free with wolf packs in an age of ice and stone, pristine air and water. This world existed for hundreds of thousands of years. In order to survive, man developed a deep understanding of animals and plants. Vastly outnumbered by wolves in a world dominated by the packs, men found their way, and wolves found their natural partner. Curl up with your dog and take a step back in time to meet the men and wolves who changed our world.

POLITICAL ALERT FOR CONSERVATIONISTS: Alaska allows wolves to be slaughtered via airplane. If you care about the special place wolves have in our history, or believe in conserving the herds and packs natural relationship, make your voice heard.

Chief Joseph, Nez Pierce Tribe (1840-1904): "All men were made brothers. The earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it. You might as well expect the rivers to run backward as that any man who was born free should be . . . denied liberty to go where he pleases."

Okay, how on earth do you get to go where you want? Why is this quote important to the novel or a philosophy of conservation (incl. wolves)? It's a state of mind. When you dig into the novel, I hope you'll see what's missing from our modern world. It may be literally impossible to go where you want, but it isn't impossible to be free and responsible, for each other and our furry allies.

The authors respond to a commonly asked question, about allegory:
Every facet of the novel is based on the best available science. The use of allegory (Eden, Eve, innocence), was not meant to be takened biblically. It just happened to be the best fit for the scientific data as perceived and to the best of the writer's ability. See page 4.

The novel is rated "PG" by Eve ... Trust your mother. Some nudity & graphic hunting scenes.
The First Man Standing, Running With Wolves is a love story about Neanderthals, wolves, and us.
